Design A Tea Cup Contest!

Hello Everyone!

Today marks the first day of a month long "design a tea cup" contest!!!

The rules are simple: Take a tea cup and decorate it with whatever you like! Submit your pictures either on my blog or email them to dmckinney@teagarden.com.

Please be tasteful with your pictures...

The winner will receive a beautiful gift selection of teas and "goodies".

Much Love & Light!

P.S.....check out the one I've done! LOL

Comments:
I would love to enter, but I don't have a camera...ugh. Maybe I'll borrow one from my friend Darla, since she's the only one of my friends with a non-cellphone camera. I'll just have to go to the Salvation Army and find a plain teacup, then to Walmart for the proper supplies to decorate it. This is exciting!

Hey, forgot to ask, when is the contest over? Middle of May, or earlier? I'm guessing May 15th, just from the date you posted the thread. I've got the decorating supplies, now I just need the teacup...I'm thinking plain black or white ceramic, or maybe glass. But I'll go with whatever teacup I can get that doesn't have a design on it...using one that already has a design would be cheating. I'm so excited about this!

Katherine,

I'm very excited as well! This is a great chance for people to be creative and to win some tasty teas!

The contest ends on May 15. Any and all submissions placed before then will be reviewed and then the winner will be selected! Good luck!

Hi Doc,
Thanks for the info. Would sending two or three views of the teacup help or hinder the judging? I'm thinking a coodinating cup and saucer (won't say anything about the decoration because that would ruin the suprise), but that would take several photos to see the full effect. If I can't find anything close to what I'm looking for at the thrift stores, where would you recommend that I purchase it? Do you sell cups with saucers?

Katherine,

You can send as many different photos of the cup as you would like. I also recommend taking a picture with your creation if you would like us to post a picture of you and your creation if you should win. Besides thrift shops, I recommend yard sales, The dollar tree, or the 99cent only stores. I'm sorry, but we do not currently sell cups with saucers....good luck!

Doc

LONG POST WARNING
ok, so i couldn't find a cup with a saucer, so i just got a plain white mug at walmart for $2.50. i'm almost done with the decoration, then i have to borrow a camera from a friend and photograph it by thursday so i can get the pics to you by saturday.

my friend who was my go-to for photography needs last semester has gone home, so i need to find someone else who has a digital camera and can photograph my teacup and email the photos to me so i can submit them to you. maybe i'll use my black velvet scarf as a backdrop to show off the teacup to its best advantage.

i'm really excited! hopefully i'll get it finished by tomorrow and can borrow a camera later in the week.

oh, and i don't photograph well. do you really want a pic with me in it? is that necessary if i should win? the camera adds ten pounds, and i'm already overweight enough, lol.

speaking of how overweight i am, i have been losing some weight, but not at the rate i would like to be losing it. i've been getting plenty of tea lately, usually about 3 pints a day, sometimes a full two quarts, but i've also been drinking a cup of coffee with fat free nondairy creamer every morning. i think i've lost five or six pounds since mid-april. good, but not great. i want to lose between 10 and 20 pounds by the end of july, which translates to about two pounds a week...doable but hard.

anyway, thanks for putting the contest on! i'm keeping my fingers crossed that i'll win!

Katherine,

Everyone's body is different and reacts to dieting in different ways. While you may not shed large amounts of weight, you sound consistant with your weight loss, which is great! Other's can drop larger amounts but then plateau, and have trouble dropping more weight later. Do not be down on yourself, you're doing great! I'd recommend dropping the coffee in the morning and see if that makes a difference, as coffee can spike your insulin.

Congrats on working hard on the cup, I'm sure it will look great. You do not need to put yourself in the picture, only if you wanted to have your picture posted next to your tea cup design online. :)

Good luck!

Doc.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! Remember my broken foot and subsequent surgery to repair the break? That caused me to gain 25 pounds. I lost fourteen of that, but then I had another surgery at the beginning of April. This one was a lot more minor--just a laprsocopy. But I still gained half of what I had lost back. So now I'm a pound or two heavier than I was at the beginning of January. My goal this week is to lose two pounds. I maintained last week. But then again, I had finals so I wasn't trying hard with the weight loss...was too busy to concentrate on staying healthy. That reminds me, I should make more iced tea before bed.
Such a relief that I don't have to be in the pictures! I hate being photographed.

Looks like I won't be entering after all. I still don't have the photos to send you....my friend who's camera I borrowed is having computer issues, which probably won't be resolved anytime soon. Which is a pity, cause I think I did a really good job on my mug. Oh, well, it'll be pretty to put on display at home.

Dr.Tea

I just sampled your "Mint Chocolate
Chip" tea. It was really bad --both
the taste and the smell. Tea should be the way it is, not completely modified.

Dear, No...

I'm sorry you feel that way, however eveyone's tastes are different. That flavor is one of our best selling craving teas along with our chocolate cream pie and candy bar black. Maybe you should give another one of them a try and see what you think!

Love & Light,

dr. tea!
